TextOrgan
*Description* TextOrgan is equal parts digital graffiti and digital concrete poetry. Instead of shaking up a spraycan and letting loose with paint, the TextOrganist uses the mouse to spray text on the screen. Using either a standard computer or MIDI keyboard, font, size, and color can be manipulated on the fly; dynamic and interactive behaviors can be added and adjusted in real-time. The TextOrganist can quickly build up immensely rich collages of performance-specific poetry and found texts.
*Instructions* Open TextOrgan. Click and hold down the mouse. The text from “text1” (the download includes text1…text31) will spray onto the screen. Clicking the mouse once will spray one piece of text at a time; holding it down will spray text continuously.
Use “insert” (decrease) and “delete” (increase) to change the size of the font. Use “enter” or “shift” to switch between fonts. Refer to the file “textorgan_computer_keyboard.jpg” to see which keys on a computer keyboard activate other behaviors.
Use “F2” to select another text. Any plain text file (“.txt”) will work.
*Technical* OS: Windows 2000 CPU: PIII 800 MHz or better Graphics: 32 MB or better
